Sleeping Beauty

The tentative title of my film is “Sleeping Beauty”, which
is about 4 minutes long and will be created in 2D digital way.
The story goes
like this: A girl lives in an old house in countryside. She is about 15 years
old and has a very good looking face. But the girl doesn’t have friends,
because she has a weird habit that is to collect things that she considers beautiful.
Even it’s a living thing, she wants it if she thinks it’s beautiful. Stones,
sticks, flowers, butterflies, her home is like a bank of beautiful stuff. The
girl is so obsessed with beauty that even when she is walking on the road, her
eyes couldn't leave with the beautiful objects she finds. She is also very fond
of her own look, appreciating herself in the mirror is her daily routine. On
the contrary, she hates ugly things and couldn’t bear them at all.
One day, when she is staring
at the mirror to check her face, a winkle slowly appears. Looking at that
winkle, she screams, rubs her face like a piece of rag, then breaks the
mirror. And then she sees the glass coffin in the corner
and it reminds her that she began to
prepare for this day long time ago (some flashbacks). She fills the coffin with liquid and flowers and stirs the
liquid with her hand, and then she slowly soaks herself into the coffin. In the
morning light of the next day, she lies in the coffin quietly.
As for my skills and background, from the second to
the third year, I have
learned the animation principles and done many
exercises about 2D animation. This helps to build up my confidence of making a grad
film. I finished one fully polished 2D assignment last semester, although it
was a stop motion film, but I got the idea of what a complete film should like.
Also, I helped one of the 4th year student to color her scenes, so I
understand the way of coloring with computer. Though I didn’t have digital
coloring experience for my own work, but I can see what it will be.
For this grad
project, the particular skill I need to learn is TVP. I only worked with
coloring step last year so I’m not familiar with all the tools. I also want to
improve my character animation and sound recording skills as well.
